Yoman,
I was lucky enough to get one from my dad, he bought it a few months ago and hated it. So with my wife having some back probs. he offered it up and we took it.
Well I agree with my dad, sent it back and he got a prorated refund.
My main complaints were the heat it retained, I would wake up sweating from this thing, I also felt like i was stuck in the mud couldent roll over or turn easily, Did it help me sleep better? kind of but not enough for me to keep it (had it a total of 2 months)
Did it help my wifes back problems ? yes and no just seemed to move them to her upper back/neck I would have liked to give it some more time but pops wanted his $$$$ back so I gave it up. Major complaint was heat and stuck in the mud feeling. Hope this helps.

Check around, but I think you'll find (as I did) the Tempur-Pedic has the highest return rate of any brand of mattress out there. Primarily, for the exact same reasons stated by 7DF250.

Tells ya somethin'......

I own a Select Comfort air mattress and will NEVER own anything else!!!

I had put the California King Select Comfort in storage and bought an A-Bed queen air matress to put in the camper while building our house. What's weird is they are similar in construction(the Select Comfort does sandwich the air bladder between foam, the A-bed only has foam on the top) but we HATED the A-Bed. Maybe because it was a queen????

Anyway, the ability to adjust the firmness on each side of the bed individually is the greatest feature.

I second what DOH said. I have an air mattress at my dad's house and always sleep 100x better on that bed than my normal springbed. The spring bed I have at my mom's house is a top of the line spring and it doesnt compare at all.

Any time you have foam up near the body it tends to act like an insulator to hold the heat in. It also will not let moisture escape which intensifies that heat trap. Layers of cloth (blankets) underneath you help.

I have had a waterbed for 26 years and would not trade it.

I've had myTempur-Pedic for three years, I love mine. No more sore back, but I have found I sleep to well on this mattress, if I fall asleep with my arm in a strange position I wake up with a sore shoulder, I don't seem to toss or turn.

The reason I tried this mattress over others was there return policy and the warranty. In my opinion it's worth a try.

My 78 year old dad tried one. His back pain moved down to his hips.

Best rest I ever got was on a waterbed that my ex still has. It is a waveless mattress and it felt great.
The heat is nice in the winter also.

I've got a bad back and when it kept bothering me we got a foam mattress pad. I love it. It's not the tempur-pedic brand name but it is the same foam. They are about 2" thick and fit onto your regular mattress. Cost about $125. and worth it.

I sleep in a hammock.

My old man has one of them tempur pedic mattresses... he keeps bragging about it. He's broken his back several times and has a job that puts a lot of strain on his back.

I used to have a regular bed, and never had a problem with it. I switched to the Hammock, its been great as well. I've never had any back pain, but as a side effect of ADHD, I don't sleep very long.

Ditto: Awsome bed and if it breaks down you can get replacement parts and not just a new bed....

mine has foam and it can and does retain heat, but depending on which foam you have at the top you can reduce the amount of heat retained.

I bought a select comfort sleep number bed about 4 months ago. It was the best investment in comfort I have ever made. I could go on and on about it, but you have to try it yourself. Go into the nearest dealer for a demo. I love my bed, never slept so well in my life. I'm spoiled now!
