You don't know hot til you've stacked hay under a tin roof when its 112* on the ground, in the shade.
'tis the season!!!
i think my nards melted into my boots.
rich, if you had the defrost on it will kick the ac compressor on, so that could beone reason its sweating. if not that, you might be leaking compressor oil/refrigerant.

I was defrosting the windshield, nothing is leaking, system works just fine. I guess I just didn't understand the AC compressor would kick on with the defroster in heat mode.

at a glance it does sound silly. the compressor kicks on and cools the air which condenses the water (humidity) out of it, then it pases over the heater core to warm it up to your desired temp. it basically makes the defrost much more effective when you are trying to deFOG the inside of the windshield.
i always would dread the first hot week of every year when i worked at the dealer. everybody with a new van would come in crying because it was dripping something.

I was told that it kicked on while the defrost was on to keep the compressor lubed up during the winter when it's not being used. If you watch it one day, you'll see that it isn't on long enough, when on defrost, to really do much of anything but move the fluids around.
