That's a great guard.
Keep in mind that many of the bolt on guards require removal of the factory tow hooks. Just something to keep in mind in case you use them ever, or find yourself somewhere when you'll need them and wont have them.
on that subject, i don't even have tow hooks... all the grille guards ive seen for my f150 have wrapped under the bottom of the bumper. do they meet up with the place where the tow hooks would be if i had them, or what?
by no tow hooks, i don't mean they are just missing, the bumper doesn't even have the cut out for them. its 2wd after all.
EDIT:
Well hell, just looked at the picture i posted earlier, and it shows it bolted to the where the tow hooks are.
do they make an adapter kit or something, or am i SOL without tow hooks?
I got a close up look at a ranch hand for a Yukon today, and it wrapped under the bumper, even though it did have tow hooks, which made me want to look at ranch hands stock picture again, and it kinda looks like it wraps under the bumper, because I think i can see the tow hook next to the grille guard. Does anyone else notice that? Here's the picture again
thanks
There is a bracket that mounts to the front of the frame and "s" shaped brackets that mount through a hole where a bumper bolt needs to be taken out. The bottom of the grille guard actually is bent to fit around the tow hooks and bolts to the frame bracket, the S brackets mount to a hole in the guard.
The tow hooks sit on the outside of the uprights. They are curved and will allow bending in a collision (less of a kinked frame)
My buddy hit a concrete base with pole going like 30 mph, saw his back end up hop up about a foot and all it did was total the brush guard and scratch the bumper. This is his new one.
Just making sure, but the grille guard DOES go under the bottom of the bumper and has nothing to do with the tow hooks?
My deal with the tow hooks is that I don't have any, and I don't want to spend $600 on something that doesn't fit my truck.
