Had a productive day yesterday. Got some stuff done to the truck. New clock spring installed, windshield wipers now work correctly, sprayer nozzle replaced, Seafoam'ed, new air filter, and dome light bulb and lens were replaced.
Now I've got the truck jacked up to try to tackle the rear leaf spring hangers and shackles. Trying to get the rivets out. Wasn't having too much luck with an air chisel. Will try again sometime later today, I'd appreciate any advice to make it easier.
.
you have to take a 4" grinder, and grind off the head until it is flat with the mount. Then take a punch, and stick it on the rivit, you will see the circle. Try to stay in the middle of the circle, and give it a couple of whacks with a bf hammer, they come shooting out.
make sure to have all the tension off the leaf spring, truck supported by the frame, spring hanging all the way down with the shock off. if there is tension on the spring, when you get the last rivit out, all hell will break loose, and YOU WILL BE HURT.
Good morning all my FTE buddies!
