Hi all, I'm trying to replace the pinion yoke and seal on my truck......it's a '99 SD SC 4x4 with 5.4 and auto. Tag from cover reads....S 156 C, then 4 10 10 5 8J11.
Been told it's either a dana 50 or sterling 10.25. So which is it? Need to ID it so I can get parts......Thanks.
Yeah, I am fairly sure they Sterling went in during 01 or 02.
Sterling is actually the city the axle is made in. Visteon is the name of the company that produced the rear axle for Ford.
F250-350 SRW from '99 up use 10.50" "sterling" rears.
Below '99 use 10.25" long pinon "sterling" rears (but are basically interchangeable with 10.50" from '93-'98. I have 10.25" gears in my 10.50" axle right now).
'92 and below used "sterling" 10.25" short pinion.

DRW use a dana rear axle, never a sterling. It was either D80 or D110 depending on year.
'99 front axle was a solid Dana 50 (dana 44 center section with dana 60 axle tubes), after '99 it was replaced with the dana 60.
Before '99 it was a dana 50 twin traction beam and most parts are interchangeable with the solid axle dana 50.
