I was just backing my little trailer up into my back yard maybe a 1000lbs not much. My backyard is pretty steep i put it in low 4x4 and it had a rough time backing up the hill it stopped moving half way up so i just stopped it there. Thinks its the tranny? Maybe fluid? any ideas from u guys?
When you say stopped...what exactly does that mean?
I ask because did the rear wheel spin and lose traction and the fronts "not" provide any drive?
The hubs and front transfer case (switch I think) can be problematic with NOT engaging when you need them too...so that's why I asked what actually happened (and you may have answered that with the "it stopped moving" reference.

Good luck,
Joe.
No spinning or anything it just stopped pushing. Engine rev like it was under a load but was not moving
4WD low is a beast all its own...I'd try 4WD high if you haven't already...
Just shifting into and out of "low" is a specific process...it's almost like they don't want you to use it! lol...
No I haven't but I will try that. I use to own a suburban an I always had to put it into low because it did have enough power to back stuff up my driveway lol. Iv had the x for about 6 months an this was the first time iv had to use it to back somin up the driveway an backyard.
I'll run a theory here that in that configuration, if you were a quart or two low on trans fluid, you could be going dry in the pan depending on how steep a grade the driveway is.
I don't know where the pickup for trans fluid is, front of rear of the pan but if you're not getting the fluid I would think that could stop where it is.
Maybe try going forward up the driveway in low and see if you loose power, then turn around and try it in reverse? Do it without the trailer so you have fewer variables first.
Hey just to let everyone know my low range wasn't working. It was staying in high 4x4 and it doesn't push good backward in high range. When i got it in low range it is torquey at crap now. Thanks for all u guys input
