it runs great. 50ish miles on a full rebuild, good power, c-6 205 d44 d60rear. 3.50 gears open diffs i had a set of geared and locked one tons and 40's lined up for it but the guy dicked around and didn't pull them out of his truck quick enough for me and i ended up spending the money on bills, i suck at holding on to cash.
as to the gas tank, seriously just buy a new one. restoring them is pointless. i basically ended up wasting a metric chit ton of time on mine and thought it was good to go. let it dry out for a day after i cleaned it out and came to find about 3 pounds of rust and powdered rust had come off the inside while drying. repeated cleaning resulted in the same outcome. basically once a tank is fubared it is done for.
Eastwood makes a coating for the inside of the tank which is damn good BUT its expensive and a total waste on a stock tank. That being said I used it on my tank after some modifications and it seems to be holding up perfectly.
I'm fine with buying a new tank if it comes with a sending unit, but I doubt it does. I was going to order one, but ordering the sending unit AND a new tank, really sucks.
chances are the sending unit will be fine, just make sure the float still floats and that the pickup tube isn't all crusted up inside. you should be able to get away with a new tank and filter for the old sending unit/pickup tube.
I was thinkin that tank due to it taking up the least amount of front to back bed space in a already small bed.......... But I guess I could find a wide tall skinny cell...
Dan my sending unit already has issues, so I was planning to replace it. I didn't think that the tank had any problems until I dropped it to weld on the frame.
