How do you test a MAF sensor off a 95 4.6l?? My Crown Vic won't idle and dies; unplug the MAF and it runs fine, a little rough at "loaded idle." Bought a new sensor and installed, still same problem. I would like to check both the new and old sensors to see if I got a bad new one or if there is a problem in the wiring?? Which terminals do I check and what should the reading be?? Thanks.
More diagnostic info, but still the same problem....
Is there a way to test these sensors? Here are my scenarios:
Everything plugged in - starts and dies after 10 sec.
MAF unplugged - starts and stays running
MAF plugged in and PCV hose removed from valve - starts and stays running; will run for a while, but eventually dies, if valve hooked up after running for about 1 minute.
It acts like it's choking itself out, starving for air. Major vacuum leak causes it to stay running?? Am I getting too much fuel into the engine?? If so, where do I start with that one?? Fuel pressure regulator? Injectors?? This is really starting to get on my last nerve; it's my daily driver and I really need it running good. 60 miles a day dumping too much gas into the system is really going to start hurting the wallet! Thanks for the help.
Not sure but sounds like the IACV is stuck closed. Probably getting all the air from the PCV so the MAF thinks it is not getting any air, thus runs unplugged?
