panhandlers!

Ok, all of these other guys can have their fun on the other side of the country, I say that we panhandlers get something together here in our nice flat treeless area and do something. Lets get together some ideas of who wants to get together, where would be a good place to meet, a good time to meet, and what we would want to do. So who's in?

I suggest something durring the summer becuase it should give us ample time to figure this out. But the thing can be sooner or later, whenever is a good time for everyone.

I'm willing to camp out or stay the night somewhere if need be, and maybe we could even get together a caravan or two together to get us to the place.

And also, since not all the panhandlers, me included, visit this forum often maybe we could pm some others on the other forums and see if they would like to get together too.

Let's get this together! Put down your ideas or suggestions. If you are interested at all, post!

Clayton

I suggest that we meet at an established event such as the Texas Panhandle Mustang Show that is held in June or July in Amarillo. They have a truck class in their show and it might be a good place to make contact, even if you don't want to show your truck.

panhandlers!

I'm definantly up for a panhandler meeting Clay. I'm just west of Lubbock so anywhere around this area is within a tank of gas and most definantly doable. Let me know details on something sometime. I know every year, at "early settlers" here in Levelland there's a car show.. nothing big but if we could find something like that somewhere we could all meet up. Maybe if there's a good 4th of july thing goin' on somewhere...(Buffalo springs lake has a big bash every year with live music, fishin', etc etc. I'm sure we can think of something. There's a guy in Lubbock that I know is on here but rarely visits and I can talk to him. Let me know what's up. Anyone with AOL messenger feel free to IM me and we can figure this out. I've got aol and I check that more than I do the TX forums now. Gotta go for now though.

I like the car show idea quite a bit. I don't really know much about the ones around the entire Panhandle but with a quick search on the net I found...

"Denver City 4th of July Celebration & Car Show--July 4, 2003--Moorhead Park--15th & Ave. D--Denver City, Texas--Pre-Entry Fee $20.00 Gate Entry Fee $25.00--For more information please contact the Denver City Chamber of Commerce (806)592-5424"

I know Pampa has a little car show near the end of the summer or something, and there was one held for like the first time ever in McLean this last year. I'll be looking for more info on these and more sometime soon when I get the chance.

66 Ranger, so do you know the exact date and info on the show?

Anyone know of anyother car shows or events that would be worth meeting at? We can make a list or something to look into.

The Amarillo mustang show is usually the first saturday in August and there is a show in Lubbock the late summer also. I would really like to to tie it in with a mustang show. Last summer I took my 72 F-250 4x4 towing my 66 K motor mustang and my wife drove my 65 fastback. It was fun but a lot of work. It's amazing how many bugs you can pickup on the frontend of a vehicle in August. I'm 100 miles from Amarillo.

Denver City is a retarded little town but then, I guess I'm prejudiced cuz they always whoop us in football while we whooped them in band and debate in HS. Honestly though, there's not much to it. I wouldn't bother driving the 2 hours from me to get there unless there were a lot of FTE there. I'll keep an ear open for anything and everything in Lubbock or anything that's potentially large in the small towns. 3 years ago, our show in Levelland turned out pretty good but since then, it's kinda sucked so you really can't ever tell. I know there's a show in Seagraves every year at their "Celebrate Seagraves" thing but it's all local stuff and in a town you only have to blink twice to miss on the hwy. That town is FULL of Mustangs though.

As soon as I hear anything, I'll post it and if everyone wants to trade emails, we can get a thing going to make sure all of us hear about it whether we're all checking FTE religiously or not. If everyone will email me with an email address they check regularly, and maybe a name to go with it, I'll compile a list of addresses and send it to whoever wants to do the emailing. If no one else wants to do the emailing, I will. I don't mind but I will need the addresses to send to. Then, ya'll can decide where you want to go, and I can pass the info on to everyone that is interested in meeting but willing to go just whereever. Just a thought but what do ya think?

I think that the email list is a great idea.

Denver does seem a bit far for some of the guys in the area. It seems like Amarrillo is the place to be as far as location. But we'll have to see...

Well, anyone who's up for the whole email list thing, just email me and I'll compile it unless someone else wants to. Just be sure to send it through the FTE site here so I will recognize it and open it. My email has been flooded with junk mail for a while and I've been blocking addresses left and right. My spam settings allow FTE through so I will recieve email that way and after that, from anyone in my address book.

As far as location goes, Amarillo's about 3 hours from me but it's large enough to make a trip up there worth it. Plus my best friends in-laws are up there and they'll be wanting to take their new baby for a visit and I'm sure they wouldn't mind driving up together. Lubbock also has some stuff if we find anyone from farther south that may be interested. I'm not sure how far Midland/Odessa is from here but I think Lubbocks close to center between Midland/Odessa and Amarillo so it'll just be a matter of where everyone's comin' from and what's goin' on where really. I'll keep my ears open for the show I know is comin' up sometime in the summer here in Lubbock.

I guess we'll just have to give the heads up as soon as we find something interesting to do or go to. Maybe we can all put together and get the North Tx guys to meet us halfway sometime and have a big TX meeting. Of course, that will really have to wait until after we get people interested I guess.

Anything else, throw it out guys ... com'on. Clay can't do it alone...

So does anyone know of anything they want to do? I haven't gotten anything on the email list so I guess that's a bomb. Hey nomad, you're in Lubbock ... you know of anything over there to go to that would be worth a trip for the other guys? Where'd everybody go?

The Texas Panhandle Mustang Club is having a Fun Ford Day August 2 at John Chandler Ford in Amarillo. I usually take at least one Mustang and one Ford truck. There are usually several nice Ford trucks and other nice cars there. The 'even' let vetts in, (which is judgement subject to question as far as I am concerned). It is well attended and always hot. This could be a good place to meet up with other FTE people.

I'm guessing that is a weekend right? If so, it works for me provided I still have a job etc. My truck isn't exactly nice right now but it'd be worth the drive just to meet the other FTE around here. Anyone else up for it??

Ahh, I've been fairly busy lately so I have'nt been able to reply or anything.

I'd say that that sounds like a good event to meet at. So how big is it exactly? I'm courious as to about how many cars are at this show usually. And are they quality cars? I don't want to pull up in my shabby wagon and be laughed out of town .

Anyways, the 2nd falls on a Saturday. Is this what everybody wants to go to? And if so how would we like to meet up? Any ideas there? Maybe we could eat together somewhere sometime, or just wing it when we all get there.
