I got my bracket back from my buddy that welds today . he made this so I could mount a hydroboost from 2001 superduty ford f-250 to 78 well here are some pics . I cut a chunk out of the old truck that is going to the crusher for a template and the pedal assembly
That's all I got for now as I'm building the truck from the ground up.there will be more update later on
Will keep you posted. as far as lines goes I will have them made at the hydraulic shop just like I did when I converted my 72 4x4 f-250 to power steering.
Today I got the hydroboost installed on the firewall . I had to drill the holes for the mounts in the firewall out just a little bit and I need to clearance the pedal assembly a little so I can use a socket to tighten up the nuts on the top . Well I know you all like pics so here you go
enjoy the pic's as always will keep updating as there is progress
That looks complicated and like way too much effort!
I run the same hydroboost and all I did was make a 3/8 plate with big hole and 4 threaded holes and weld it to the firewall. It all bolts up from under hood and no messing around with tightening stuff under the dash.
Plate looked like this...
Do you run rear discs? The master is a 1 3/8 bore for rear discs..
As for lines I would throw out those short ones , then just use a conversion fitting to run an inverted flare -6 hose/fitting.
Wow, with the unit mounted like that it would be no problem topping off the brake fluid when ya needed.
This is who I referenced when I did mine. I used the conversion fittings, one I bought from eBay and the other from SummitRacing. Also had custom lines made at a local hydraulic shop.
My buddy who made the bracket gave it a custom look I just gave all the pieces an that's what he built. It's not a solid piece an it works good . That's a great kit but that's a lot of coinage . I work in a wrecking yard an have access to all kinds of parts cheap so the unit I'm using was perfect for what I'm running. I will be putting the same thing into my 1972 high boy when i'm done with the 78
I was at my intown salvage yard looking for a powersteering pump and bracket for my 460. I found some lincoln mark 5 and they have a hydro booster in them for you guys wanting to use ford or junk yard parts. I did go to my local autozone and they were able to order me a new pump for around 65 bucks.

You think his was too much effort you'll hate mine...
But for me the pride of my build is in the details. It's what sets my truck apart from others
Besides - if I only would have had a 3/8" plate my brake pedal would have been raised over an inch over where it sat stock (my hydro boost was also off a '01 SD). I didn't want that.
Yeah I did cut my rod down and shortened it for the brake pedal height issue. Kinda the most important weld on the truck but I'm a welder/ fabricator so it was done properly
A spacer could of been used but I didn't like it.

I'm the same way as you ChaseTruck754 .I didn't want to have to cut the pedal rod and didn't want a high brake pedal. Plus it has to look good
WOW y'all got way to much time on yer hands
I unscrewed the mount plate fliped and knocked the studs out and drilled them out to 7/16" bolted right up.
I also plated the firewall and am running a hydraulic clutch (zf 5sp)
