74 F-100 Need Advice
Hey Guys,
I have a 1974 F-100 2wd, shortbed, PS, PB with 302 and a C-4 and need help. It had a 460 and still has the huge radiator.
I want to put in an S CODE 390 GT (14 Bolt Heads and a C-6). Here are some questions:
1. Will the 390 bolt in where the 302 is or do I need different frame mounts ? Same with the C-6. If so, where do I find them.
2. I'd like have a 380-400 HP. The 390 is completely disassembled. I bought a Comp Cams 280H and a Clevite 280-290 dur .510-.536 lift and windage tray. Please give me some advise on the manifold, carb and if adjustable rockers are worth it. Which cam should I use?
3.Where can I find headers for this truck that has a 14 bolt pattern and not the 8 bolt.
Thanks

This should be in the 73-79 forum but i'll help out anyway. The perches should be from an FE truck, I believe the small block ones are different. The trans mount should work, may need to be relocated slightly. You only need adjustable rockers if you're using a solid lifter cam. I wouldn't spend the extra money otherwise. One of the best bang for the buck manifolds out there is the Holley Street Dominator. Usually a few for a reasonable price on Ebay. I prefer to use the Edelbrock Performer series carbs. Holley's are good as well. To make the power I would highly recommend Edelbrocks Performer Series cylinder heads. Big improvement over the stockers. Good luck with the project.
