I received a set of 5 CD's from the E-bay seller yesterday. They are true Ford Service CDs. The seller included a 1992 Car/Truck CD along with the 1993-97 Ford truck CDs. Not sure if it was intentional, but it was a nice surprise.
The CDs include EVTMs, Service and Error Code/Troubleshooting sections. Bill, thanks for the great link!

Your welcome and I also sent you a Private Message.
I ordered a CD like that (maybe the same thing) off the internet but I was pretty disappointed with it. Either I don't know how to use it which would be strange as I am pretty savvy about these things, or it's just an incomplete or poorly put together product. To me it's about as useful as the Haynes Manual I bought at the auto parts store and that is to say it is almost useless and contains wrong information.
I used to have a Helms manual for my Acura and it was extremely useful. Complete. clear and easy to use.
I called a dealer here. The parts person told me the automatic told you which distributor it was. I said, ok, so which one is mine. Well, for $232 and wait several days after I prepaid for it I would find out. I told them I would just bring it to aftermarket and pay $60 after matching it up. I was told that Ford OEM parts are the only ones that work.
The 5.0L HO engines had STEEL distributor gears, to be compatible with the ROLLER-TAPPET CAMSHAFT used. Non-roller (flat tappet) camshafts required CAST IRON gears.
So, you are saying the standard 302 would have cast iron. I took my distributor out, but the gears are worn a little and shiney, so it would appear steal but the collar looke like cast iron. Anyway, I will take it to the parts store with me and match it up. Thanks. What part of Kansas?
We have discussed the auto/manual distributor subject before. I agree with the Bill, the issue is whether the engine has a roller or flat tappet equipped engine.
Bill also speculated the reason for the call-out of the transmission type may be related to different rods inside the distributor. This was Ford's way of retarding the timing with different length rods inside the distributor.
Update on ebay manuals, I received mine today and they are as described. 92 thru 97 Trucks & Cars on 5 CD's. "CAUTION" They will not install on a 64bit OS at least not for me, and I tried every compatability mode available. They will install and run on Windows 7 32bit. If you have a newer computer you most likely have Windows 7 64bit, if so you can download XP Mode from Microsoft for free and install the manuals to the virtual XP. This is what I did and it works fine. Now about the programs, it will take some time to learn how to navigate the menu and the pages will not scroll with the mouse, you have to use the up/down arrows on th keyboard. YES I know I'm nitpicking so I'll quit. This is the best deal you will ever get on manuals unless you get them for free.
