I`ve got the lawn short but I wish I could drain the big sloughs around here, alot of extra water laying around just perfect for these pests to breed in.
I went and bought a 3 inch trash pump for cheap from an auction and Ive managed to keep the one problem wet spot we have in the area quite low, it sure does help!
I gave up around here, a lot of big sloughs have way too much water to pump and are in a low laying area so there`s no better place for the water to go. Unfortunately alot of trees are in the water and are dying off, sadly we`ll going to lose them.
There has got to be something that you can spray to kill ticks. unfortunately, keeping the grass short by cutting it will not work for me, because I normally only go there once every 3 to 4 weeks. The first time i was there this year was for Canada Day and the grass was over 2 feet tall. It took me 8 hours to cut the ten acres around the house. I noticed that the ticks were so thick that they were crawling up the side of the walls of the garage. so I think there has got to be something to kill ticks. somebody told me about a garlic spray thats supposed to work. I have not tried it yet, but I am going to next year. if anybody knows of a chemical that kills them, let me know. I'm even tempted to burn the grass before spring.
