Hedman #89210

I'm thinking of putting these on. Pros and cons anyone? I was going to go with fender exits but I do a bit of off roading and don't want them to get beat up with rocks. Supposedly these fit my '79 F-150 4x4 400 w/ manual tranny and shouldn't be a problem fitting around clutch linkage or give the starter a problem. Do you all agree?

I have the same truck with a NP 205 and the driver side pipe is hard to fit over the top of the cross member and miss the transfer case. The right side is about 3/8 inch from the starter. That's why i'm looking into fender exit headers. It looks like a cleaner setup.

Chassis exit headers are like drugs, JUST SAY NO. I had a set of chassis exits on a 78
4x4 F150 351m auto.

And they we a major PITA, drive shaft hitting issues, real crazy routing of the exhaust system to get around the xmsn/xfer case crossmembers.

Basically caged the starter, NEVER AGAIN! I put fenderwell exits on my 79 F250 4x4
351M 4spd w/36's wheel the hell out it and have not really had any "rock" issues.

I would only tell you to keep asking opinions about them (chassis exit) before you purchase and install a headache.

Fenderwell exits are the only type I even will consider to use.

I have dual shocks up front with the coil. Do the fender exits have any problems fitting around these?

Ck the install notes on different brands, I remember something about a few brands NOT fitting the set up you have. I'm sure there is a brand out there that will fit.

Chasis exits can be an issue unless L&L makes a set for your application. Had issues with flow tech and headman before swaping a 460 and running L&L's. No issues what so ever with them.
