wondering if there is a way to track the truck i ordered ? i ordered an f250 april 11th. i am going on 7 weeks now,and was told by my dealer it would be 6-8 weeks for me to get it. I have contacted my dealer with no return reply on this. I would like to know where i am at with it. all i have is an order number (possibly) and the dealer number. any help would be appreciated.
Here's my experience:
3/7/11 - Ordered
4/8/11 - Received VIN
4/15/11 - Scheduled to be build week of 4/25
4/19/11 - First ETA of 5/2/11
4/25/11 - Build date, ETA of 5/2/11
5/2/11 - In transit. ETA of 5/6/11
5/4/11 - Delivered to Dealer
5/4/11 - Picked up.
I called the Ford Customer Hotline frequently once I had the VIN.
1-800-392-3673, select options 1,5,1,2,2
I also had problems getting a response from my dealer after I placed the order. I got all my information from the Ford customer service number.
Do you have the order number? It's on the computer printout (build sheet) of the configuration. If you don't, get it from your dealer. Be persistent. I had to start calling the sales manager to get the info I needed. Then I called the Ford customer service number.
One consideration is the size of the dealer at which you placed the order. All dealers have an allocated number of vehicles and yours is one of them. For small dealers, a build could be put in a lower priority vs. a dealer that has a larger allocation. Also, be sure the dealer gave you a priority of 100. It's on the build sheet. If not, call and complain until they change it.
Thank you for the information. I called the number that you said to call. theye told me my truck was in processing. i asked what that meant and they told me it was being built. the girl told me to call back anytime to get an update. she told me the vin would not be made until the truck was finished being built. That's all the info i got from her.
she told me the vin would not be made until the truck was finished being built.
That's not correct. I've corresponded with many, many people on the FTE forum and EVERYONE received their VIN weeks before the truck was built.
There's something hinky here. Call or go to the dealer and make the sales manager call the Ford regional rep and get your VIN.
You want that VIN so you can check the window sticker and verify they are building what you ordered. One poor guy here waited months for a truck only to discover they screwed up the order.
yes, I am sure you are right and I am being fed a line of bull. i am going to call that number again tomorrow and see if i get a different explanation.
i specifically asked her about the vin #. I told her that I thought you got that first. she said no ! i also asked her questioned her several times and she kept telling me it was being built.
I am into it 7 weeks as of monday. I was told 6-8 weeks by my dealer. i don't think it has even started to be built as of yet, let alone shipping and all. I just cannot seem to get any accurate information as of yet. My dealer has not responded to my update request. what a way to have to buy a truck. you would think someone would keep me updated so I would know where I am at with it all.
I call the Customer Service line many, many times and they were usually very helpful, but I got one guy that told me things completely opposite of everyone else (turns out he was wrong and everyone else was right).
I tried calling the dealer but got my best results by walking in and asking to speak with the sales manager.
called again today and got a completely different answer----the truck is still in processing wirth me being into it 7 weeks this coming monday. it is indeed not on the line being built. so it sure looks like it will be a long time coming if i remain a customer.
i was told to call back next tuesday or Wed and check again on it. i surely made a mistake ordering this truck ! I would not have done so if I would have known in advance that it would take so long to get . Things are not looking good ! I am really thinking of canceling this order. But I will wait until next week to talk with them again first toi see what's up.
You make the decision to spend a bunch of money on a new truck. You design the exact truck you want and order it. Then you wait and wait and wait. It's like waiting for Christmas and on December 24 they tell you they have moved Christmas to March. It sucks.
I just ordered my 2011 F-250 last week,,, checked my Pri. and it shows a
10
WTF..... I guess he ment to put 100 but all I see is 10 need to call and make sure of this?????

Tell them you are seriously considering cancelling the order unless they can move up its priority. You might get some results.
You want priority 10, not 100. A number that high is usually indicative of general dealer stock so a priority of 10 is preferred.
The issue at this point is a dealer issue as they probably didn't have allocation for your order nor are they communicating any updates to you. Sure makes for a crappy experience...
