Hey guys, I think I have found the problem. I was spraying carb cleaner on the carb and intake to see if I could find the source of vacuum leak. When I sprayed the very last intake port on the back/end of the motor the engine smoothed out and ran normal. I did this over and over to be sure and it seems the last port is not sealing to the head correctly. Now I have re-tightened all the intake bolts and it helped a bit but did not stop the problem. Should I double gasket the intake gasket or what?
I did use the intake/exaust gasket that came with the rebuild kit. When we rebuilt the motor we went by the manual as far as all torque specs go and used the order it showed.
The 300-6 is a great little engine in it's own right, and there are people that will have nothing else in these trucks. I am one of these people. For what I do with my truck, I will not have anything different.
Ok I guess I will try the new gasket and seeing if the intake is straight. Should I only run an Intake gasket this time if the intake checks out and leave the exaust off this time?
