I thought it would be interesting to everyone to hear what others are getting for mpg.
Tell us you vehicle, year, rear gears, trans, engine mods, if any, tire size, and the mpg you currently get.
Thanks.
I'll start. I have a '75 F350, labeled a F250. The rear gears are 3.31's, with a C6, stock tires, and you can see my mods in my sig. When I first built the engine, I had an autolite 4100 on it, and took 500 mile trip. 90% of the trip was freeway, with 100 miles through winding hills. I averaged 16 mpg.
14.6 city, 18.8 trip. Engine in signature. 4 speed granny transmission, 3.08 rears, 23575R15 tires. 4200# empty weight full of fuel and me behind the wheel.

Harte3: Sorry, but you're disqualified. Your #'s are too good. You must be cheating some how.
1979 crew totally stock engine, 4 spd, 3.55s and 33s. I get about 12-15 estimated. I live at almost exactly 50 miles from work, so I know that, but my speedo broke, so I can't get true numbers.
On my 74 I had an Isky cam, offy intake, Autolite 2150 carb, split headers with dual 2.5" exhaust, 4 spd, 4.10s and 36s and it would get a GPS'd 14MPG.
95 F150 SC SB 4x2 300, 5 speed 3.08s stock tires.
16.6 to 17.5 MPG average on my commute into Downtown Boston. I check it every fillup. On the highway I get about 18.5 to 19 @ 70 with a best of 20 @ 60 mph. Hauling a 4100lb rv it drops to 13 @ 55 on the back roads.
After market spirial core wires, 12 deg BTDC, plugs gapped at .050,5th wheel air gate and a dash mounted vacuum gauge.
YMMV

That is spot on, with what mileage I get all stock, except for my CAI, and 12*BTDC timing..... Hmmm.....
Cheating? Cheating?? No way!!! Cold starts and short trips in town including a 10.5 mile commute to a part-time job. Here is how it's done: When the temps drop into the 20s overnight I plug in the block heater. When starting in the morning it gets minimal warm-up time...just enough for the needle on the oil gauge to hit it's normal spot. Take off and drive at rpm no higher than 1200-1500 (about the same as a fast idle).
Trips: Hold to maximum 62 mph. If pushed to 70 mph or more mpg drops at least 1-1 1/2 mpg.
Keep tires inflated to maximum load rated pressure...weekly pressure checks especially in the winter. Use synthetic gear oils in the transmission and differential. I just switched to full synthetic in the engine...10w-30 from 5w-30 conventional oil. I'll probably switch back to lighter oil for winter. Install a vacuum gauge in-cab. When at all possible do not push the pressure drop to less than 10 hg or at least stay above the power valve opening point.
Now if any or all of that is cheating...I'm a happy cheater!
