Mud Flaps for DRW
I went to get the crew cab DRW inspected and this year was told I needed mud flaps. I pretty much knew this but have been avoiding it. My 75 F250 spits more rocks up and doesn't require them, but hey that's what DOT says I need on the dual rear wheel truck.
I was thinking about using some old floor mats for the mud flaps, but was advised they'd rip and be useless in no time. Good advice. I read on this forum advice that trucker (semi) flaps were cheap and could be cut to size. I took a chance and went to O'Reilly to see what they had, and in the back they had some pretty large generic--but heavy duty--flaps for about $11 each.
Got some 90 degree metal bar from ACE across the street, some extra 1/2 and 5/8 bolts and took a stab at it.
Basically I bolted one end of the bar to the frame--there was a pre-drilled hole already there--and then the other end to the metal flare on my truck. Cut the flaps to size, drilled holes at top, and attached to the bar.
