Truck starts and runs fine at first and then out fo no where the check engine light comes on and the truck looses all its power. After a brief time the light goes back off and truck runs fine. This problem happens very intermintanly. I have tried replacing the ICP sensor since i heard that it was a possiblity and that did not correct the issue. PLEASE HELP!

If the CEL is on, the PCM has stored codes. See if you can pull the codes and these guys can certainly help you figure out your issue.

A couple of things to look at while you try to get your codes :

If you have a programmer or chip, remove it and try that for a while. Eliminate the chip as a possible cause.

Look at the wire harness where it goes across the valve cover on the drivers side. These can touch the cover and chaff wires over time and create a problem.

Need the codes read and also what year truck? How many miles etc. Your profile says "F-150" 7.3 ????
Hang in there, there are people here that can and will help.

I have tried reading codes and it didn't show anything, maybe just a cheap reader....the truck is a 2001 f350 with 142,000 miles I will try to have a local shop read them and see what they say

Under valve cover harness, their is a plug that is under the valve covers that connects the fuel injectors to the main harness to the ECM(I think that's what it is called) the computer that controls the timing and firing of the injectors, the plug over time works loose and causes many problems such as the one you describe. Their are a couple of ways to fix this, one called the fifty cent mod, using two quarters ground just so and placed in the plug to hold the retainer in place so that the plug does not work loose and the other is to order the factory version of this mod which consists of plastic spacers that do the same thing. Both work well. If you look in the mods section or do a search for this mod you will find a ton of information regarding this issue. I pulled my valve covers at around the mileage you are at and sure enough the plugs were working their way apart.

Very well could be Under Valve Cover connection problem. Could be other things as well. Your best bet is to get the codes read. It'll save time and most likely money ! Otherwise you'll just be swapping expensive parts and guessing. The regular code readers at Advanced, Autozone etc. won't read our trucks. If you know someone with an AE or code reader set up to read these trucks it could help a lot. I don't have one, wish I did, may get one sooner or later. Hang in there, if you can get the codes there are losts of folks here that can talk you through just about anything.

Ok verdict is in I took the truck to the local ford dealership and they said that the uvh needs to be replaced that they have a short in them. Should I let them do it or does it just need to be shimmed together?they also said they are worried about the injector driver modal any advice

Pull your valve covers and take a look. Easy job that you can do and sve your self a chunk of change. Probably don't need to be replaced, but if the do it's not to expensive. Doubtful that it is the IDM.

So I am gonna go pick the truck back up and I am gonna do it.....but I am gonna try shimming the connector first, if that doesn't work I found a kit that does new glow plugs, relay, cover gasket and pigtail for a reasonable price so I will go that route

So you paid someone (Stealer) to tell you what many here told you to look for (for free).

cover gasket
the valve covers are reuseable and normally do not need to be replaced.
