How do you fund your project? show pics!

I thought this would be a fun thread as we all have different ways to fund our projects, weather their rolling or in pieces. Myself, I drove my project for about a year when i descided to garage it and do the major stuff. Like many, you make a list and then it grows, grows into something massive...After 3 years of sittin I can finially say I'm close to driven the 54...I just need to stay on track. Also, like many of us, I dont have deep pockets, I've been out of work since Dec(having always worked my whole life). So, i've had to come up with inovative ways to get extra here an there to buy the occational, grinding wheel, part from craigslist and midfifty, junkyard etc...anyways here's my latest project I just sold over the weekend...I had traded for it...now i got some $$ in my pocket to complete the truck...to get it running...So how did/do you fund your projects!!!

This was the day I bought it...

And the week it sold

That looks really nice!

I do "professional" pole dancing! I can get some pictures if anyone wants to see them... Just kidding!!!!

I haven't made a lot of progress on my project (projects) -I just seem to keep getting more and more projects.. but I have bought and sold cars trucks, and parts mostly. done some trade work, etc. not sure if I'm really any further ahead though?

btw I would love to live in Bend, other than I've gotten quite spoiled with the Salt Lake city mild winters. how are the winters there? LONG, Cold?

I try to teach 110 7th graders what used to be 9th grade Alg. 1. My recent test scores indicate that I'm fairly successful.

I, like many here, buy parts trucks, strip them of usable parts and scrape the rest. I keep the parts I can use and sell the rest to fund my "addiction" like my wife likes to call it. At last count I've have had 16 '48-52 trucks, all but three were parts trucks. For my latest project, a '37 Buick, I am on my 4th. All of them have really been parts cars which I'm trying to assemble one good one.

I won't post pictures but if you're curious you can check out my web site.

Debt seems the most current way.... Just kidding. I was burnt out on all the cars and such amd I wanted a driver. Put together a little money and paid to much for that truck that sits outside. wouldn't have it any other way.

As for the continuning cost it is done by a ltlle parts action but mostly on the kindness of others. I get parts that aren't prime pieces from some very good folks wanting to help and I clean them up and fix if neccesssary. It is the only way I would ever have a shot at doing this. I just take small bites but just keep moving forward....Even though it seem like I am tap dancing in a mine field.

Like Bob, I too buy and re-sell truck parts. Some trucks I'd buy just for a few parts that I'd need for my trucks and then resell the rest at a profit. Although, now I'm not so much into dragging hulks of metal home, spending the weekend dismantling it and then a few months to re-sell in pieces. I've done it for several years and have made decent $$$ to buy more parts trucks for my inventory and spend on my current vehicles.

Recently, I've been hitting a lot of estate sales and auctions buying up things that I can resell at a profit. I'll buy anything that I can make a little extra $ on.

I launder nickels out of the checking account, so the wife won't notice. That's part of why progress is so slow.

I tried buying and selling stuff but I'm a lot better at buying than I am at selling. That, and I seem to be really good at buying high and selling low.

Now-a-days I save all the loose change that builds up in my pockets. I'll dump it in a can and then when the can gets full I'll turn it into cash money that I can buy a part or two with. Like havi, thats why it takes me forever to get anything done. Its not just because I'm a cheapskate, its that I don't have much extra to toss at the truck.

Now that the kids have moved out and its just the Mrs and me there just seems to be a little more money available these days. Funny how that works.

Man, I wish it would work like for me. My oldest is almost 20 and he's costing me a small fortune by starting up his own dairy operation. My wife is always telling me how broke we are but there always seems to be money to pay for his foolishness. I thought once they're out of school life would get easier, I guess not.

One big lesson I have learned is never tell the wife how much I sold something for. She's amazing, if I sell something for $100 a day later she finds a bill for $110. If I sell something for $55 she'll come up with a bill for $60.50. Now I rarely tell her if I sell anything and if I do I won't tell for how much. My "useless" hobby has paid many bills. Not any more though, it all goes in my pocket and what she doesn't know she can't spend. The bills can be paid some other way.

The past 3 years I have taught 6th grade math, however someone decided that we needed to teach every subject next year. I became certified in k-8 with a middle school math endorsement, to now teach language arts (yuck). My '57 is being funded through extra projects that I take on where I am paid a little extra for the added responsibility/ workload. Husband seams happy that I can pay all the bills with what we both make and we still have a little money to play with even though we have a 18 yr old at home.

And as I have told him, you can take over the responsibility for paying the bills, doing taxes, etc. at any time. Sooner if you complain too much. ;-)
