The last $17k came from not replacing my art works and collectibles from the house fire settlement. Other than that, I am your tax dollar at work. I am an IT Specialist/System Administrator for the Bureau of Land Management office here in Moore.
Allstate and Uncle Sam has been berry berry gud to me.
I know, I don't look like the typical nerd.

Just wanted to update my Post. One way i fund my project is through my income tax refund check. Without going into right or wrong for me it allows me to have money enough for the big purchases that I install through out the year.
With all the medical bills finding money during the year is just that, finding. I get paid weekly and there are 4 "extra" paychecks a year. Yes some goes to bills but guess where the rest goes???? My addiction of course....

$$$$ Generation
I've been generating money like some others, through selling/horse trading truck, engine, transmission parts. I have scored free and very cheap parts from Craig's List and re-sell for profit. It's a good way to learn too. I have kept an eye out for 302 parts and have learned a bit about block and head differences as a result. Meanwhile honed in on what I wanted for my own build.
I have scored a free roller short block on CL and turned around and sold it 2 days later. I keep my cash in an envelope and list where it came from.
I sell valuable things that I find I no longer need/want to buy things I do want. I call it "transforming" my material objects from one form to another. I had a knife collection that I decided was cool, but just sat in drawers. I sold some off, put in my envelope to save. I had 5 handguns - sold a couple (after all, you only have 2 hands), put in my envelope. I have $1400 in my envelope right now (though that's about to change - my truck is going to the shop this Fri).

A good thread and timely too. My truck is just bustin' to be painted and fired up, but alas, it's just sitting. I used to have a job, a little money and no time, now due to health reasons I have little time but no job and no money. I always put in for cash as presents for birthday, Father's Day, Christmas etc and fortunately I have lots of kids and grandkids so that helps some. I won't be making the Western Nats this year so that will free up a few $. Have even considered trying to sell the Weber carbs off of my street rod ($3K) but that's a tough decision, once you start canibalizing it's hard to stop. Social Security doesn't help much at all and my wife is carrying the bulk of the load. The upside to all of this is that I have lots of time to do detail stuff that I may not have done otherwise. I do a column for the truck club newsletter and have been thinking about a column entitled "The upside of being broke" If anyone has anything to suggest I just might be able to gather enough info for a column

Sorry to hear that. You should really get the parts installed. It would honor her. She would have wanted you to.

I build transmissions and rearends for people, build a lot of transmissions to sell at swap meets, etc. I just lost my job yesterday so my building will slow down some but at least I have a lot of parts already bought to keep some progress going.
