My 93 Ford Clubwagon van has been having intermittent or randon starting problems. It usually starts OK in the morning but after being driven around town and stopped to park sometimes it will not fire when its turned over. The starter will turn the engine over but there is no fire. Sometimes it starts like normal, but sometimes it takes a while of turning the key off/on several times before it fires up. Sometimes we can cycle the key back off and start it after a couple tries. Sometimes like today it will not start (engine won't fire) at all. After I came home from work today it started.
Its a totally random thing.
It does not appear to be the battery since its keeping a good charge. It seems to be either fuel starvation or electrical problem. Any tips or ideas what to check?
I am going to be changing the fuel filter since its been awhile. It has a recently changed rebuilt engine put in last Nov. The computer was changed last winter also.
Has been running very good since beginning 2011. Most all the parts on it are new
since swapping out the engine. The fuel injectors ARE the originals.
I need to do something pretty quick as I am without a reliable vehicle. I am in Houma, LA which is below New Orleans and hurricaine season will be here in a few weeks. We have to be ready to evacuate within a couple weeks notice if something
comes up in the Gulf. We are also being threatened with the possibility of flooding this week from the opening of the Morganza Spillway to relieve the Mississippi.
