Hey guys iam back. I have a 96 f-250 7.3 and it sucks... (not when i bought it tho) iam a young guy so please forgive me for my ignorance. Iam having fuel problems that are just driving me crazy. I have a aux tank and main tank. The aux tank has bad lines So o do t use that tank.. that was making the truck run very crappy but now i would use the main tank and It would sound very rough and start shaking like crazy at a stop light. Sometimes i would have to give it some throttle the keep it goin. But when it starts moving it runs crappy. I ran down the feeder goin about 75. It topped out struggling at 75.. I think o have a serious problem on my hands guys. Iam thinking it might be a fuel pump. I looked at the block under the turbo and noticed oil near the pump.. I changed my filter about 3 mounths ago. Still looks clean. I try not to take it out to often. The truck runs great around the hood or on the freeway driving normal. But when i gun it struggles.. Then it starts sounding like it wants to pass out.. So guys one again... PLEASE HELP ME! thanks

The oil under the turbo doesn't mean anything except the O rings under the turbo might need replaceing. Unless of course your turbo is on its last leg. Have you checked your fuel pressure? What do you mean by bad fuel lines? You might be sucking air into the system if the fuel lines are bad. Some expert will come alone.
Well the fuel line in the auxilary tank might be bad. Maby somethnig might be build up in it? One guy who used to work on these trucks said that could be one of the problems.. So many possibleties... And the garret is fine. I rebuilt it 8 months ago... Hmmmm... Maby the fuel pump might be leaking oil? Is it possible? Thanks for the reply by the way!
You probably have a leak at the weep hole in the fuel pump. With all the stuff thats gets built up in the valley its hard to tell fuel from oil. As Glenn said check your fuel pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel bowl. You can use a stick tire pressure gauge. When you changed the filter did you clean the screen on the inside of the fuel bowl. Drivers side at about the two o'clock position there will be a small hole. If not take a q-tip with the cotton cut off and clean the debris out.
As far as you fuel tank issues the tank selector valve may be failing. Kinda tough to test and since the valve is over 200 bucks now its a tough call. But your symptoms seem to point to that valve. Just a guess on my part.
Yup, with all the above. If you can (let me bounce this off everyone else), can you apply air pressure back down the fuel lines in to the tanks? Do this with the seletcor switch in both positions (this should blow the debris out of the bottom of the pick up tubes in the tank(s).
The screen...take it all the way out and hold it in hand...go from there in your cleaning.
leak?...sounds like fuel to me. It could very well be the pump. Do you have the fun Cali model?
If you don't know you can find out by looking for a blue sticker on the right (passenger) valve cover OR run your VIN through this link: Comprehensive Chevrolet, Saturn, GMC, Hummer, Cadillac, Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Geo, Dodge, Plymouth, Jeep, Chrysler, Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda Truck, Mercedes VIN Decoder OR Look for the black disc like this one (with 69 painted on it)
If you have a Cali model and you need to change the fuel pump....you may need a little direction. You do NOT have to remove the turbo!
If you do replace the pump, I would recomend rebuild the the fuel bowl/FPR (bunch of O-rings and tubes...very easy task) at the same time
You really should try to clean the "valley of death" out the best you can...get all that cat hair out and hit it with some carb/choke cleaner on a COLD/SLIGHTLY warm (NOT HOT) engine.
Let us know what you find, we will get you going again
Man.. lol there is cat hair in the vally. I found it last night. But yeah i wanna test the Air pressure on the fuel bowl.. Naw its not a cali model which iam thankful for.. But yeah ill get back to yall after i do the necessary stuff. Thanks

It is the return to the filter. If it is clogged then the truck will run linke poop/die. very important and very easy to maintain but a lot of regular folk don't know about it.
Yeah i dint clean it when i changed the filter. To be honest i didnt even know it could come out. But iam gonna look at it today tho see if i can get the screen out. The hole you were talking about? The one where to clean it with a q tip? Its important to cut the cotton off right?
You need to take the FPR off/push to the side. 2 each 10mm bolts and a hose clamp.
The fuel filter restriction gauge and the fuel pressure test port are attatched to it:
Undo it and swing it to the right (as looking at the picture) and the screen will come out with it...if it doesn't...poke it out (towards the FPR) from inside the bowl.

once you have it in your hand....you'll know what you need to do....carb/choke cleaner maybe
