trying to figure out speedometer gears... running a c6 with 3.55 gears, 28 inch tire. how do i figure this out and do i just change the gear thats on the speedo cable or do i have to pull apart the trans to change both of them?
It helps a LOT to know what driven gear is on the end of the speedo cable now and also what way your final drive combo changed.. more or less gears, bigger or smaller tires from the stock combo.
so theres more to it? how would i figure out how much its out? the gear you guys are talking about is the one that goes into the transmission on the end of the speedo cable right? i have to count the teeth on that one? but im changing transmissions so what if the internal one has a different tooth count?
nope, nothing to it.
before you put the cable in the new trans, count the teeth on the speedo cable gear.
after you get the new trans in, use a gps unit to figure out how far off the speedo is, then let us know what gear you have and how far off the speedo is. we will then be able to tell you the proper tooth count for the gear you need .
