im on the market for a donor truck/car for a motor/trans swap into my f2, and was wondering if i would have any trouble getting rid of an E4OD if i was to find an auto truck for dirt cheap, that has the motor and t-case that i want (ideally i'd find a zf5 donor truck, but theyre just too expensive and the cheap ones are few n far between). im basically lookin for the cheapest donor candidate possible. im lookin at either a caprice/roadmaster for an LT1, or stick with the venerable ford and go 351 or 460. . .i think the answer to my question about the auto trans will help me in my searching (what i find for a deal basically dictates what i go with). to put the question in non-paragraph form;
-how desirable are the E4OD trannys? (in other words how much trouble will i have sellin one if i found an auto donor)
-how much would a junk auto sell for (plannin for the worst, hopin for the best)
i dont wanna make any money off of it, just wanna make sure i can get some money back from the part-out and of course, make sure i can get rid of the thing at all before i buy a junker 351/E4OD combo.
The E4OD isnt very desirable. However I know that many people would like to get an extra one for cheap so they can have it rebuilt and ready to swap out. Don't expect to get much for one tho.
The price a junkyard will charge depends on weight scrap value of vehicle and also how damaged it is. Some junkyards are terrible and feel they can charge a ridiculous amount for a certain engine/trans combo. Prolly about a grand for an older truck thats been wrecked in the rear but has a working drivetrain. You may be able to work a deal and sell the leftover truck/parts you dont used back to them for scrap.

Yea i sorta figured as much. I guess my biggest concern is just bein able to get rid of the thing. I found a high mileage 351/auto setup that i can get for close to nothin. If i could get rid of the auto it would basically mean i got a free motor to start a build and that is quite appealing
Yeah that'd be a good deal. Id say that you should at least be able to get core value out of the trans. That should be 350-400 id think. Maybe a bit less
