I mentioned the 4.10's are better for towing and they are, but I'd rather have my 3.55's than the 4.10's with the power I have now. I wanted 4.10's in stock form, not now. I agree with chase, 3.73's are the ideal gear.
Jose, difference is 4.10's will run about 5-600rpm's more. With 4.10's you'll have less lugging taking off as you get into the power band quicker, but your mileage will suffer with the higher rpm's on the road. With 4.10's you'll "feel" like your truck has more power, since you get into the power band quicker. Generally you'll have more heat with the 3.55's since you'd be running less rpms. 3.73's are a "happy medium" between the two. They will give you +-200 rpm more than the 3.55's. I'd like that, mine is 2040rpms at 75, another couple hundred puts it in the power band better, and would allow for better towing. I just don't want the mileage suffer from 4.10's, 2600rpms wouldn't be soo bad towing, but if empty mileage would drop dramatically
Good explanation!
In short, a lower gear ratio (higher number) will give you more grunt when taking off from a dead stop, but also means higher rpm at highway speeds and less mpg.
Like Darin, I think the 3.73 is a good trade-off between take-off power and cruise rpm.
You are fine Jose. You'll love the ones, you may need to upgrade hpops when you do, especially if you tow much. You'll run out of oil working it hard. Been there, done that.

I heard you Darin. this is the unfinish work . thanks
I was just writing out a list of things I want to get done on my truck and the price of everything is probably going to end up being more than I paid for it. But I'll have a kick-butt truck when I'm done that will last me a LONG time.
Surprisingly nothing on the list was really "performance" stuff. (Except an intercooler). Most was preventative/maint stuff like hydroboost conversion, beefy bumpers, 5 speed swap, etc.
After researching and finding part numbers and everything it's gonna cost me about $400 for all the parts I need. (With a 10% military discount).
That includes:
1. New Steering Box (mine is going bad)
2. New PS Pump (Again, starting to make noise a little)
3. Hydroboost unit (including core charge)
4. Pressure hoses from pump to hydro, and hydro to box
5. Return hoses
6. Amsoil ATF
I figured since some parts are going bad anyways I might as well start with new (or refurbished) parts. Gonna use the stock master cylinder for now, might upgrade to the F-Superduty master cylinder once I get around to disc brakes in the back.
They are awesome, the guy who took me to get Whitey back had a 98 12 valve twin turbo Cummins in a Superduty with a 6 speed and a gear vendors unit. 1500rpm with the GV engaged in top gear at 70mph.

It should be noted on the GV that they can be used between gears for us 5 speed users(anytime over 20 or 30mph, can't remember) and can also be shifted at full throttle. I'm probably going to get one and leave the 3.55's in my truck. 150+mph might be possible. LOL. Cody has one in Rockee and it's awesome to say the least.
I was quoted $650 plus parts to install 3.73 gears in my truck... I think I'll live with crappy fuel mileage!
I've got 4.10's and am draining my wallet at the pump, especially with 285 75 16 BFG KM/2 Mud's. Looking at 235 85 16 Interco's to help the MPG issues. I rarely drive over 60, even in the 75 zone
