Newbie with 5.4l super duty

Hi all, i am new here. I just swithced from my 03 silverado to a 04 f250 super duty with a 5.4l. this thing is a pig!! my 5.3L gm had way more power, is this normal for a 5.4? is there any suggestions that i should do to give it more power? the truck only has 42,000 miles on it.

Geesss.....your degrading a Ford on your first post...wow.

Didn't you test drive it before you bought it? I wouldn't call it a pig....it serves its purpose for those of us who want a dependable, non diesel, reliable pickup.

As for more power try your search feature here or just contact Mike @ 5star tuning.

Have a good day.

I'am not dissing it, it just thought that it would of had more power and i am seeing if this is how the 5.4liters are or is there something wrong with it. my silverado was a piece of ***** because i replaced the front end components twice and tired of fixing it, but the motor was pretty good.

Remember a truck is not a performance car. They aren't designed to go fast. I had a 5.4 and it wasn't the fastest thing on the road, but it was entirely capable to get a job done. If you are towing 8K lbs, why does it matter what truck does it faster?

Keep in mind your are running about the same cubic inches in a truck thats probably 2000 pounds heavier than your POS Chevy. I pull a 10,000 fifth wheel and it does just fine.

Just busten your chops , the 5.4 can feel a little underpowerd at times its a big heavy truck with a fairly small engine but its very reliable and if you let her rev she will do the job for ya and not complain.
Oh and welcome to the forum.

Yeah you got to let it rev. Its a good engine and very reliable but you are right it could stand to be a little more powerful.

Use to have a 1500 HD Ext cab and it was a good truck then switched to an 05 F250 5.4. CrewCab. The weight and size differrence alone are very noticeable and took a little getting use to.

I still hug my truck when no one is looking
