As usual, I made a last minute decision on Friday to go to the Lone Star Street Rod State Run. We left home about 2:30, headed for Fredericksburg. About an hour down the road we ran into heavy rain, high wind and hail. Finally made it to a small park, so we pulled in under a big tree, hoping to deflect the hail. Fortunately, the hail we had was about the size of a pea and didn't do any damage to the truck. We found out later that a few miles away, the hail was baseball size and did a bunch of damage. We sat it out, under the tree, and after about 1/2 hour we got back on the road. Never had a leak around the cowl vent before, but this time it flooded into the cab. Going to have to look at that. Got back on the road, put the hammer down on 70 mph, turned on the AC and rolled into Frederickburg about 6:15 without any more excitement. Went to the show on Sat and the weather was nice. Saw a lot of old friends and about 350 cars. They set up a cruise on Sat PM. Left at 4:30 and toured some of the back roads, stopped to eat and got back about 9:00. Had about 40 cars on the cruise and everyone had fun. Went to the show on Sunday and found that we had been picked for Directors Choice and got to park in the winners circle along with the other winners. Was a great day. Awards were over @ 1:30, so we headed for home. Got home about 4:30. Not a bad weekend after the storm.
Don,
Your truck is wonderful as always - You are an inspiration to all
of us Central Texas members. Next time you make it out to Fredericksburg try staying at the Hanger Hotel - it's right on the airstrip.
I look forward to getting my truck "done" this summer to get on the road with you. (That was a good storm this weekend - it just missed us down here).
