Drivetrain lash - F250
80 K miles, 6 speed manual, Powerstroke
I have traced it to the splined joint just in front of the axle. A friend of mine who works for a driveshaft manufacturer says the splines are cut undersize then coated with a blue nylon (for "wear resistance"??) . After the nylon wears you are left with a loose fitting splined joint.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is it possible to replace the back yoke and install a grease fitting?
thanks
Bill
Belatedly I saw some info in the FAQ.

I wonder how hard it is to get those strange clamps back on?
