You're gonna get a lot of opinions on this. So here goes mine: Mystik JT-8 10w30. It's SL / CI-4 rated, and I got a few cases for $0.89 / quart at the local Farm & Fleet. It's made by Citgo.
Really though, any SL rated 10w30 would be perfect, IMO. If you're going to be in extremely cold temps, go with a 5w30. If you're paranoid about it, go with Mobil 1. Change it every 3000 and you shouldn't have a problem.
Edit: 114k, thats just getting broke in for a Ford!!
I use Mobil 1 10w30 and a Mobil 1 Filter. I used to be a diehard Pennzoil and Fram guy. Not anymore. My Big 6 has over 120,000 miles on it, and since I have switched to Mobil 1, I have noticed that my rods and lifters do not knock and clatter on startup nearly as often. It is a very good oil and a well built filter IMO.
Any 10/w30 is good but use a good quailty fiter like a motorcraft or purilator , your engine WON'T KNOCK with the motorcraft ..My '89 would knock with an other filter but not with the motorcraft filter . Atleast give it a try , besides it is what was orignainlly on the truck

With over 209,000 miles on my unrebuilt 4.9 I have used a variety of motor oils. Shell, Mobil, Castrol, Quaker State, Pennsoil, and even the cheap Murray's house brand. But one thing i have done faithfully is to use Motorcraft oil filters FL-1A and change the oil and filter every 3K miles.
But then again I am talking about my 81 F-150 which has recently developed a rod knock. I can't complain about 22 years of dependable service. I still drive this tank around town.
I now use 20W50 to help quiet down this die-hard engine. I bought a new F-150 below and use 5W30 Mobil or Shell (whichever is on sale) with of course a Motorcraft oil filter.
I'd put 10W30 in your truck and use a Motorcraft oil filter and go 3k between changes.
