ok thanks. ill give that a try. just wondering though, whats the point in puting the paper in the spark plug hole if i just going to turn it to TDC before i time it ?
i have the balancer cleaned and im 99.9% sure i have the base timing set right to 10 btdc and it idles fine right around 800 900 even when its warmed up or when i start it cold.
If the timing was 180 off the truck wouldn't run , have you checked the spout yet , it seems the only problem you have is that the computer is not advancing the timing with the spout in.....
the paper is to make sure it is on the compression stroke and the motor would run if it was 180 out it would just be off and choking up, it was worth a try.
thanks for the help guys. still not sure on this thing though. i don't think thers anything wrong with the spout, ive tried jumping it with a piece of wire and still no change.. any other ideas?
Im not a wiring expert , but i would look at some wiring diagrams and have a good look at the wiring for the spout and the computer for the timing advance , sounds like something got damaged in the fire.....Lew
It's possible that you have a code in the computer and its running at base timing because of it. Go to Fordfuelinjection.com .... it will show you how to retrieve codes.
hey thanks for all the advise guys, i think i finaly got this figured out. i got some codes from the computer and 1 was about the spout so i replaced the plug and its been running great. idles a little fast but i think i can adjust that out. thanks again
