Yep finally got it in thursday put it that night, and I love it! Makes a world of difference, the street setting makes the superchips programmer on it highest setting seem underpowered. The extreme setting is a whole other story. And yep can't keep enough diesel in it right now, lol. I look foward to the mpg's i will get with the econo setting, and how it will tow with the heavy tow setting. Thankyou Tony for making such a great product.
Yes, i got the 6 position chip, but i only used used 5 of the 6 positions( econo, daily driver, heavy tow, street, extreme). No, i still have my old programmer, do plan on selling it later.
I'm curious what it would sell for and what its tune consists of as compared to a "Tony" tune for example. Is it worth anything? Is it bad news for the 7.3?
Don't get in too big of a hurry to sell your superchips, it is a code reader if you don't have anything else.
Darin, I used it for a few years until TW. I always used it for a code reader until I got the scan gauge. Now I just don't think I need it anymore.

I don't really know what they are worth, I would guess $100 but that's only a guess. Compared to Tony's tunes they aren't as good. Its a improvement over stock, that's for sure but I don't think they are 'bad news'. Six years ago I used it for my 27' 5er but needed more for my 34' 5er.

I've seen them sell for $150-200 in my area, part of it is they dont pop up for sale very often. It doesn't hurt our trucks, i used it for two years and never had a problem, it just not a powerful as custom tunes such as Tony's, Jody's, or Bill's.
I used mine for a coupla years. They are a nice bump up from stock. They are not worth buying new, but getting one used is not a bad thing. If you can find one south of $150, then that's a good deal.
I keep mine for a code reader and as a backup in case I ever hafta send Tony my chip back for a reburn.
The Superchips tuners help over stock, thats what im running right now. 1705, only has 2 settings Tow/safe and Hi-Performance, not sure what kinda numbers their supposed to add though. I run on tow/safe all the time, I took it back to stock when I had to have a recall done on my truck. Ran it like 1/4 mile and She felt gutless to me almost lol. Gona get 6pos soon enough, just needta get other stuff outa the way first.
If stock sucks, is that because the engine is under-fueled? I'm not sure what a chip really does, especially when it comes to the psd..
Stock sucks when you've had a taste of what the engine is capable of. Under fueled? I'd say yes. Ford went very cautious on the whole setup. I am by far no expert, but the major thing the tunes change is the injector timings (how much fuel, when and for how long) probably through the IDM. Anything the stock brains are dealing with the tunes effectively alter. If there's an auto involved, shift points get modified, too.
The different tuners do all this somewhat differently and I am sure there is an art to it. Anyone have a rough roadmap of what gets tweaked?
