Hey all.
I've got a 89 E-150 club wagon XLT, It's got the 4.9 in it. I've searched on this site (as you folks have proven to know the most about fords, which is all I will drive). This is the first van I've had and I'm kind of lost working on it.
Anyway............ the van started "loping" which all I had to do is turn it off and restart it and it then ran fine. Now it's idling fast especially when warm. When I take off from a stop the tranny makes a jerking noise. Like I was saying I can't find any info on here about the problem.
Does anyone know what could be caulsing this and how do you fix it?
Hey thanks for the advice. I had to work this weekend but I'm going to try what you suggested.I'll let you all know one way or the other what is caulsing the van to run like this. Maybe it will help someone else who is having the same problem.
I just saw you said this is your first van and are lost working on it. You do know the center console called the catalen(sp?) comes out and exposes the back of the engine.
Ford Fuel Injection
This site is a good help with all the electronic stuff. The IAC is the idle air control they have it listed as the IAB on the site and the TPS is the throttle position sensor.
My van has a 1000 rpm idle i've been looking into fixing just haven't gotten around to it yet.
