STUPID ROADS

My state really needs to get off their **** and fix the roads. So i was driving around in the idi today since i got temp plates (this morning), and my friend wanted to go somewhere for food. Anyway on my way back, the vibration from the crappy roads, caused the tail pipe to fall out of the exhaust holder and then proceed to drag and brake of the at the flange to the muffler like a quarter mile from his house. I even tried to drive on the nicest part of the road but their was no good spot! Well anyway going to bring it to a local place next week, as i only have a week and a half on my temp plates, and i need to exhaust to get it emissions tested.

Aren't you one the highest taxed states? My brother lives there and the property taxes are murdering him. Its not that you have alot of super highways. What are they doing with your money?

Yup property taxes are super high. We don't have county government but every town has its own government. Vehicle costs are stupid high. Roads are **** everywhere. This particular road was supposed to be completely reconstructed 5 years ago... I know i live in a poor area but its completely neglected. Etests here are just smoke opacity tests for this, and it doesn't smoke at all unless you really stomp it.

Roads seem to be falling apart everywhere. Too much salt and calcium hurts ours bad...Also allot of the gas taxes are not going to road maintenance.. Which is what they are supposed to do. The gas taxes are just a cash cow for other programs...

The county I live in here keeps the roads in decent shape even tho they are a poor county. On the other hand the state can't seem to keep I75 from shaking every thing apart. In the winter it is like driving on a slaom course lol.

The interstates are getting in bad shape in lots of places...Kentucky, roads are harder to keep up then in lots of other states.. We have allot of caves which leads to sink holes. With the large amount of springs we have the roads have allot of base failures.. For to many years the gas taxes haven't gone back to the upkeep of the roads. The Fed's are supposed to cover the interstates.. There are collecting enough fuel taxes to do allot more but they are not...It is like the Post Office and Social Security...

Oh I am....But most things will not change....Example: People will complain about roads for example...What happens is that the Fed., and this has happened in this administration, will claim they are putting money into the roads. What they do is spend allot of money on signs and do projects that don't really do allot.. They will pour millions into some project that widens a 15 mile stretch of road but doesn't address the other thousands.. There are many small things that will help more but they don't look big on TV. It has to look good on TV to attract votes...

The Post office is doing things that should help them but the information I have seen about the Post Office on TV is very inaccurate.. The whole story is not being told at all. They have been thrown under the bus pretty badly. Yeh, there are some idiots in management there but they have been screwed as far as some of their operating costs are spent.

our county roads and interstates are in pretty good shape, but once you get into any bigger city they go to hell...i think some of the holes are deep enough

These two quotes fit my area pretty well. They are working on a project now to widen a 9 mile stretch that isn't really in bad shape, but the side roads are beat to hell.

I know we're not helping with all our heavy equipment, but we have to earn a living and these roads are the only way to get to the fields...

Sidenote: They put up a "no trucks" sign on every road, including one where it's the only way for two major farms and a meat processing plant to get to the highway....
