v8 gas engine question

I'm going to look at (to possibly purchase) a 2003 F350 with the V8 gas engine, 97k miles. The owner says that the engine has a "lazy lifter" that bleeds down and ticks at idle (diagnosed by his shop mechanic). Has had the issue for past 3 yrs & 35k miles but mechanic says not to worry about it and it hasn't been an issue. Can anyone give me some additonal information on this? What future issues could this cause? What is involved in fixing? Simple removal of valve cover or complete top engine tear down? Any thoughts and information would be helpful.
Thanks.

I would check all the exhaust manifold bolts , sounds like it could be an exhaust tick.

Mine has 195,000 miles right now and still runs like a champ, no leaks, shifts smooth, all guages still work, AC works, etc. and I've had the ticking FOREVER, I just gave up on it
