When I inquired at the local ford store, I was quoted between 1/2 to 1 hour for timing an IDI. Depending on the labor rates I would say $40-$100 US dollars. I time mine by ear, and they seem to run pretty well.
I too plan to time it by ear but will be interested in a dynamic timing at some point especially since I rebuilt the entire top end - painted /cleaned - new radiator support /fenders - turbo upgrade and rebuilt IP- until I can find the Rotunda timing equip - or affordable Snap On - I'll just ear time
I expected 50.oo to 75.oo knowing what all it takes - local diesel shoppe here quoted me 150.oo - no wonder he never seems to have business
