someone was posting about a earlier dentside and i cant get an image in my head what mine would look like painted. since my turn signals are blacked out and the headlight buckets are blacked also, thinking about painting total grill insert in center black. kinda thinking open mouth look in rearview mirror or like 79 camaros.
here is pic of mine, post yours, photoshop or let me know opinion
Check my Profile page under old truck pics. When I ordered my truck I ordered the black grill. When I went to pick it up it had the Argent grill like yours. I told teh dealer about it and he said he would pull it out and paint it black. I was ready to take my truck home so I told him I would do it. Just so happens my truck was the same color as yours. The pics are not real close up but it always looked good till I busted the grill breaking through snow banks. I put a black aluminun tube grill in then. I wish I would have ordered the black mirrors too. They looked real good on a friends truck. My vote paint it.
My opinion??? Paint it!!!!!!!!!! Repaint the headlight surrounds as well. How did you black out your lights??? Been thinking of doing it to mine but not sure what to use or how well it works out............
Here some black out ideas, the Bronco is not mine, the bottom 2 are. Have you ever seen some black out plexiglass plates that go over the whole headlight, ring and all?
Or you can only paint the front edge of the grill and leave the silver back part?? Or reverse that, I'll post a different pic did that to my 79 but it has the chrome outer edge.
And some more, the 1st pic is how I got the grill, the 2nd is after I located a chrome grill and head light buckets and did a little paint upgrade.
The grill face was chrome with a grey argent back ground, a little masking tape and paint and wala. Not to mention adding better bumper and factory push bar.
well, it needed to be done and had free time after lunch so i started on it today.
cleaned and sanded the buckets, then painted and clear coated. look good.
cleaned center section in tub before day got too long, didn't get to sand.
FYI, plastic scratches in the tub are a bitch to clean up. would of take pics of damage but then my wife might have evidence.
either way i plan to finish tomorrow, get new screws and paint them. then take and post pics.
IMO the 78/79 grilles look like chit, they're too similar to the the 80-86 grilles, no character whatsoever, just a big egg crate, but to each their own.
Yeah, Montana to each their own............LOL.................I love em.......
What can i say PEB...i know some guys love that 78/79 grille, i just never took a liking to it, my favorite is the 67-69 grilles, but since i'm a dent guy i like the 73-75 grilles best, they just scream "old school" to me, the 78/79 grilles just went too modern for my tastes.
I like all the 73-9's...............Just my favorites is the 77 1/2's thru 79's..................Maybe just because Ive owned 3 different 77 1/2's -78's Never had a 79 but have had a 77 1/2 with round headlights, a 78 round headlight and my current 78 square headlight. Different strokes I guess...............I used to be partial to the round lights but my square ones have definitely grown on me.........
To me, the only pickup that looks better than a dent would be a '40 Ford..................and thats out of any manufacturer any year. And that one is not just because I'm partial to my Fords............
