I just bought a used 08 f250, i wish I would have found this forum first. It has 93000 miles on it. I have put only about 150 miles on it and it has gone into regen at least 4 times plus 2 more times it went into drive to clean. the 2nd drive to clean was on the way to the service center to have this problem checked, as i pulled in it had just completed the regen. I put it in park only to see the message drive to clean again. just heard back from the tech, they said it is not giving any codes, therefore there is nothing wrong. What should I do at this point. Factory warranty will be gone in 7000 more miles.
If you have not already done this, I would get it on the hiway and go! I know, fuel is not cheap, but if you get it out there and run it at 70, get it good and hot and make it work a little, and let it cycle thru the regen. Make that thing burn the soot. Another thing is to run Diesel Kleen thru there. That will help the fuel burn a little more quickly with the elevated Cetane. Then I would find another dealer.
Stop and go driving and regens don't mix. I've started to put the truck in neutral at stoplights to shut down regens to delay it until I can get out onto open road. Seems to work. It's better than letting the truck try to regen in idle continuously and sucking the tank dry
