I drive about 15 miles to work one way.
The problem is that most times when the truck goes into regen my trip is not enough to complete. Now that Ford removed the display that indicated regen until it was completed I find myself missing the regen.
Is there a way that i can manually put the truck into regen when I know I'm going to be on the road enough to complete the cycle.
Truck does not have a tuner and is all stock.
She has 31K on the clock.
Some of the experts may know something else but I don't think you can. It would make sense that the computer would tell you when it needs cleaning and let you pick the time within some time frame. But it doesn't and how you drive the truck is, as best as I can learn the absolute worst thing for the emissions systems. Hope you're keeping a close watch on your oil level and the fuel dilution. There is a ton of information on the forum on the subject.

Yep understood.
When I first picked up the TK it was a 55 mile trip but we moved and it is much closer...Been thinking about picking a 3rd vehicle but even with the price of fuel it would never pay for it's-self.
If you want to trigger it as soon as possible I have noticed a few things that help.
First I have noticed an obvious change in the exhaust smell when it is getting close to
a regen. Using that and knowing how any miles it regens around, when I pull on to a
65mph road I floor it up t 65mph and set the cruise, this has set the regen almost
immediately a few times now. I also have a 15 mile drive and the dang thing kept
waiting until mile 5 or 10 before it would start then I'd have to go the long way or do
some other extra driving to try and do a full regen, I also slow to 55mph some times to
try and get it to finish. I also need closer to 20 miles to regen most times which doesn't
help.
This is all done with the engine at least warmed to above the low mark on the temp gauge. I wouldn't be flooring a cold engine nor do I think it would regen that quick.

I only use mine for RV trips. My daily is a 92 Acura I bought in 92 and have 220K or so miles on it. It's still fun to drive and the depreciation curve is pretty flat now. I guess I was wrong about the forced regen. first time I've heard of that gizmo. I'm not sure I would give 500 bucks though. I'm more inclined to go the other way and spend the money to get rid of the DPF. I'm hoping the repubs will just close the EPA to cut spending then we can get rid of all of them.
