thermostate

I pulled my camper a couple of times thes year and when i pull it the fan runs really high. just started, never done it last year. I checked coolant resevour and found it was empty. temp gauge is working and never showed a high temp. I filled it back up and started noticeing that at about the time the thermestat should be opening, i hear a whisle coming from rite infront of the steering wheel. and when i cut the truck off the resevour is wet around the cap. I changed it and it is still doing it. I asked a friend who is a gas mech and told him i could squeeze the top radiator hose and dont feel like there is any presure on it. How hard is it to change the thermestat on these, 05 6.0. \. If wondering the camper is just 22 feet long.

Boy O Boy i think you have GHs problem the number one tool a 6.0 should have is gauges not the things in the dash that take up room but real gauges like the Edge Insight you may have a bad cap but i don't think so.

The normal thing with a stock Ford t/stat is they go bad open but you remove the top hose from the radiator then remove the 2 bolts then remove the hose and housing together because there is a mark where they have to line up and only use a Ford T/stat
new t/stat from Ford it should all come together (housing-t/stat-o-ring) in a box. The part number is RT-1169
Here is the best place to order

Here you go, if you pull the pyro is a must plus it helps on cool down

This is the New Edge Insight the one i have they no longer make

or this is the one that i would get bigger is better but my wife would kill me

The pyro, that is a must if you pull
EDGE 98601 EGT Accessory for CS and CTS (non-expandable)

This is a must if you pull heavy even if you do not, need for cool down 350*-360* before you turn the key off.

After drilling it out i used a magnet with a paper clip with a L shape on the end clip taped to the magnet run in the hole to remove any steel then tap the hole going only half way with the tap so you do not over size the hole, do not use grease. (the steel is soft so be carefull) Take is slow.
