I'm guessing you have the Duraspark ignition system wired up to your distributor & coil.
I believe the ignition module is mounted on the drivers side fender apron.
I can confirm, no computer on the 7.5 till 1988.

Chevy did have something similar I have a 1984 Chevy Blazer S10 with a 2.8 L its carbureted but it does have a feedback carburetor where there's still a computer controlling things these systems were a Prelude to the EFI systems today the next year they went to throttle body fuel injection The Big Three was under pressure to get their fuel economy up and emissions down so that particular carburetor was controlled by the computer with the air horn solenoid I think it was called allowing air to be adjusted by the computer and it had a throttle position sensor on that carburetor even an O2 sensor Downstream in the exhaust smog pump so on and so forth

That's all true... l had a couple of S10s w 2.8s in em and it was the first time I'd ever seen a carburetor with wires coming out of it (besides electric choke).

The question you answered was in a 5 yr old reboot of a 12 yr old thread... l don't think dude is here anymore. No harm in that, just don't wait for a reply.
