Not a good idea, the frame mounted pump is a high pressure Bosch, somewhere around 65-70psi or higher internal relief valve. You can get one of the low pressure electronic fule pumps if your engine doesn't have the provision for a mechanical pump.

Just about any of the ones either Autozone, Napa, Advance etc. sell. Is your truck originally an EFI truck? If so, you can use the low pressure pump in the tank(s) with a pressure regulator. Carburetors use 5-7 psi.
