I just bought a 2007 F-150 Lariet with stock AM/FM six CD the used dealer has a 2008 F-150 with a Nav sys. He will let me swap out if it is compatable.
Can a 2008 Nav plug into a 2007? Any special things I will need to buy?
Thanks
It works perfect plug for plug. if anyone ever does this be sure you get the
GPS antenna (not same as Sirus SAT antenna). the GPS antenna is located on the dash between the insturment cluster and the left defrost vent. Easy to get to, 4 bolts and 6 snaps.
Thanks for the info, I was wondering this myself. I just bought an 07 FX2 without Nav and then bought a Nav from a wrecked 07 Freestyle (it's on it's way to me right now). I now know that I will need to add the Nav antenna. I think everything should plug and play except for the steering wheel controls which mine does not have.
Hey 95 dude, it is plug and play from truck to truck, I dont want to rain on your parade, but you may have to get it reprogramed to work in your truck. All the plugs are the same, but the f150 was diffrent from all the rest of fords in using canbus for the radio, or something like that. I got mine out of an edge and had to get it programmed
Just finished the install of the 07 Freestyle nav unit in my 07 F150. It was indeed plug and play with no issues. There are three harness ports in the back of the radio. One large one, one medium and one small plus the two antenna ports. The large harness plugged right in as did the medium one. I don't have a harness for the small port so I left that empty. I then plugged in the Sirius antenna and it fired right up.
I am guessing that the small harness port is for the redundant steering wheel controls (which my FX2 does not have) and the rear seat controls for the DVD player.
All I need now is the GPS antenna and I'm good to go. The factory Ford nav unit is manufactured by Pioneer for Ford so I may try to plug in an inexpensive Pioneer antenna and see if that works instead of buying the $80 Ford antenna.
Awsome 95Dude, I wish i and others would of had the same luck as you. If im not mistaken one of the plugs is for subwoofer. You can also find the ford gps antenna on ebay for a good price. Glad it worked out for you.
