Ok guys, I hate to start this fiasco but I gotta....what are the MAIN problems with the D44 TTB? I am looking at a D50 in missoula for 200 bucks and I wanna know if its worth it or ??? So please tell me and I got a feeling I jsut opened a can of worms cause I really do like my D44, but I hear both ways go other ways and whichever way the other way is is always wrong so please tell me.

BTW: Say the last part 5 times fast
I have the D44HD in my truck. If its just for mud and snow, then i think you'll be fine with the D44. If you're plowing or doing something really heavy duty, you may want to upgrade to the D50 or even a D60...
The center carrier of the 50 is the same as the 44, with the 50 you get bigger bearings and hubs which is never a bad idea. I heard you just had a lot of money become available id get the 50 put in new pivot, spring and shackle bushings and trow the 50 under there. Just make sure the ratios are the same.
like it was said, the go has bigger hubs, bearings etc. you can actually swap the outers from a 50 to a 44 i think, someone correct me if im wrong. but also like it was said for a true work truck, id go with the 60, which is what i did. the swap is pretty straight forward, with all facroty parts
do you have the 44 in a diesel truck?I have only seen them in light duty 3/4 tons the one my brother had was a pian in the butt it was in a 6 cyl 4x4 with a big bumper and an old electric winch he had that thing rebuilt alot seemed like every 2 years and there was no plowing or hard 4 wheeling

My 87' has a d44. It looks stock it had some dead air shocks on it.
New shocks all around, u-joints, ball joints, tie rods, bearings. It still moved fine got 18mpg with it but it rolls and steers better now. I am impressed with it for all the trash talk. I know he jumped it...
