My boss has a 93 F-250 with a 351. We had the usual fuel problem,( bad check valves in tank), and fixed it with a new pump. It run fine for a few days, now has weird symptoms of a fuel problem. If we drive it easy, its fine. Under hard acceleration its fine. But under medium load, or towing our trailer,(stump grinder), it misses badly. It feels like a clogged filter, but have replaced that twice. Has anyone had this problem after changing out the Fuel Delivery Module. It does it on both tanks. We even changed the fuel regulator. Also the fuel pressure is fine, have checked with key on & engine off, engine running, and with vacum line off the regulator. Everything checks out according to the manual. Any ideas???
No Edge, it idles perfectly. Sittin in the driveway, you rev it up, sounds ok. Under load, or in gear, misses terrible. Runs great under WOT. Got me baffled?
Nope, the EGR valve seems to be working fine. The codes say egr sensor. It reads 5000 ohms when testing it, the book says it should be 10,000. We have replaced the fuel filter, pump, wires, rotor, plugs, cap. New fuel regulator, checked all the vacum lines, no leaks. I am not sure that the EGR sensor would be the problem, or is it the EGR is not sitting in the right position giving the sensor a false reading. The passage is not clogged either. Also when its cold, the truck runs like a champ under any load or condition. Just when it gets up to running temp. does it start acting like an old w***e! Any suggestions on where to look now?
It would seem if it was a fuel pressure issue, it would act up no matter what the engine temp is. We measured the pressure when it was acting up, and it hit the marks on all checks according to the manual. we just didnt check it driving down the road, dont have enough hose for that on my gauge set-up.
No sidewinder, haven't even thought of that. Was thinking since it idled ok, never gave that a second thought. Now the IAC does control all air input amounts to the ECM? And does it control, it thru all RPM ranges? Will have to try cleaning that later when the truck comes in. Thanx fpr the tip!!!

Could also be the TPS....Or Throttle Position Sensor.....After years and years, they develop a sort of "Dead spot"....Usually midways through the pedal travel....Then that correlates to a miss/stutter while under a medium load....Because if you mash the gas pedal hard, it skips the dead spot entirely.....
Kinda like drivin fast over a motorcross event track...then goin over it slow.....The slower you go, you notice the bumps more...
Thanx Sidewinder. Will have to check that out. I dont work on these style trucks much, so I seem to forget some of the usual checks. Will have to check the tps in the morning, will let ya know how I make out with it. Something gotta give sooner or later, hopin towards the sooner. Dang trucks cuttin into my beer time, lmao!
Ok, I finally got around to putting the new TPS in. As I pull off the throttle body, the backside of it and the upper intake is full of black soot, carbon. Much more than I have ever seen. Am tryin to clean this mess up, would this be a EGR related issue?
