Removing Emission Components

What emission controls can I remove from my '83 F-250 with a 300? I was thinking of EGR, smog pump, anything else? Would I gain any power or fuel efficiency? Would I have to make any carburation adjustments? I plan on adding an Offy single intake, EFI manifolds, and dual open exhaust. There is no emission testing where I live.

You could get rid of the smog pump. You might have to leave the EGR in place I was told that the engine will ping bad if you take it off.

I'm a little confused here. You said EFI manifold, but also carburetion adjustments. Do you use a<a href="http://motorhaven.autoanything.com/"> carburetor</a>, or EFI? I see it's an '83, so probably carburetion. In that case, ditch the EGR, smog pump, cats, all of it. You will probably have to jet it a little richer so it doesnt ping. If its carbureted, of course.

I should have said I would be using the EFI split exhaust manifolds. It will be carburated. Which brigs the next qestion, which carb is better and is easier to tune? Also which manual would you reccomend?
