Even if your state doesn't have a smog test its still not legal to remove the emission control system according to the Feds. My state doesn't smog test older vehicles but the inspectors do a component check to make sure the system is still in place. Many people keep the components if removed and pass them when the vehicle is sold.

We don't have tests.... or inspections... or any of that.
Also, it was originally a farm truck, so large parts of the system are already missing, I'm looking at a full delete as the easiest way to clean up a hack-saw and duct-tape job... XD
This is unrelated to removing the stuff, but if your truck has an A.I.R. pump look around at the yard or on eBay for an alternator bracket and water neck from a 60s vintage 300. It really tidies up the engine compartment and makes installing/removing the intake and exhaust much easier. I've got pics posted...
Also, get yourself a plate mode to plumb heat to the bottom of the intake plenum before you install it. I bought two 5/8 elbow fittings from Sachse Rod Shop and took them to a local welder who had some 1/4" aluminum plate and he fabbed one up for $25. It makes a night and day difference.
