I have an 86 f150 with automatic trans. and a non tilt steering column and need to replace my actuator. I've torn down the steering column to this point
but cant get this ring off to get to the actuator to replace it.
What now?
I did this about a year and a half ago but with a manual-trans and tilt wheel.
I'm assuming you took off the snap ring?
The shop manual says:
Remove the upper bearing snap ring (green arrow) and the (2) T-bolt retaining nuts that secure the flange casting to the outer tube. The picture shows the flange coming straight off.
