Yep. Thats a tankless water heater. You just got to use whatever will be the most efficient. And for that, gotta talk to a pro in my honest opinion. KO1960 raises a great point about temperature and mixing and such. I know when we poured garage/shop floors that were heated we laid 2" blue foam under them to increase the efficiency.
I dont know enough about the systems beyond what we did for my dads house and shop. My father uses 2 boilers. A very large wood fired unit in the winter that is actually inside his shop, and a smaller gas unit located in the house for heating hot water in the summer. He does close certain parts of the loops off depending on the time of year. In the summer, he shuts everything down accept where he needs hot water. In the winter, the boiler in the shop heats everything. Its a quite a system, with tons of valves, distribution blocks, and such. I told him jokingly he needs to write an operators manual for it.
Edit: Great snowmobile videos! Makes me miss the days of trail riding on my Indy 650.... But we get squat for snow here in Wisconsin anymore unless you live way up by Lake Superior.
