Howdy! What's on the menu for today guys?
I put a can of AC charge to the Ranger last night. Think its time to check and repack the bearings and drain the rear diff.
Ryan-Sounds like a plan...Btw...If you use the Valvoline brand wheel bearing grease, be sure to check the fine print to see whether it says drum brakes, or disc brakes.....Apparently there's a difference....
And that is one of the next things on my agenda with the truck, then EVERY fluid, grease, etc will have been changed...
John-Yeah...I gotta start putting money back for my taxes before next year...Stupid boss lied to me...Now I gotta fill out a 1099....
************************************************** *******
You guys (John) remember the day of the truck meet, I mentioned a awful vibration in my truck?
Well turn out, the rear U-Joint was TOAST....Now here 's a weird part...
On that particular trip, I BARELY managed 16mpg.....The meet I just did over in Charleston, WVA....Same trip, roughly 137 miles, I filled up at around 110 miles of the said trip....Was getting 18mpg...
Seems that the U-Joint was binding up, therefore causing the engine to stress more than necessary....
So yeah, greasing the U-Joints is a NECESSITY....Not a option....Just a thought, incase your vehicle randomly starts drinking fuel...
I have been having fun driving my now solid front axle truck lol! The 4:10's make a big diff as well. The front end now sits at least 2" higher and it don't look like it is ready to jump at you lol.
Wes, I got Mobil 1 Synthetic lube both in the tub and a cartridge for my grease gun. I was planning on going Amsoil as I am slowly(read as I can afford it) replacing all the fluids with synthetics as I can afford it. I have a preferred customer acct with Amsoil and it helps out costs wise.
